Humans are the god’s most beautiful creature. But many times the humans deface themselves by abusing their bodies. This happens by taking to drugs. Drug abuse not only affects the individual but also the families, communities, countries and the whole world. Innumerable lives have been lost and countless families have been shattered due to drug abuse. The worst part of this is that it targets the youth, who is the future of the country. This is the habit which is easy to acquire but very difficult to live with.
There can be several and varied reasons for contracting this habit. Sometimes, it is just the curiosity to taste it. Most often, it is due to peer pressure. Friends are the biggest culprits who push the innocent people towards addiction. Many times it is considered as an escape from the life’s problems and tensions. But the fact is that their problems get compounded and other formidable problems get added to their troubled life. People in distress want to forget their problems Cocaine, Heroine are some of the drugs that are destroying the life of our young generation. This menace is damaging the very fabric of our society. Though, it appears like an individual problem, but it is not so. It is a social problem and society as a whole has to fight it.
Parents should spend more time with their children so that there is no gap created between them. Keeping a watch on their children’s company is a must because the youth is the most impressionable age. If anything suspicious is found in their behaviour, urgent attention should be paid. If required, expert help should be taken. For the people who want to take refuge under the drug should understand that this will always obstruct and never protect their life. There are better options like meditation, prayers etc which can help them find solutions to their problems.
This problem is not only confined to India alone. It has infected the whole world. Now the UN has decided to take a step forward by declaring 26th June as the international anti-drug abuse day. So let’s gear up ourselves against this alarming problem and make sure to drive it out for ever.
