Present Continuous Tense or Present Progressive Tense
Following are the structures of sentence in Present Continuous Tense:
Present Progressive (continuous) Tense:- (structures)
Subject + am/is/are + verb +ing +object
Subject + am/isn’t/aren’t + verb +ing + object.
am/is/are + Subject + verb +ing + object?
Am/isn’t/aren’t + Subject + verb +ing + object?
Whq. + am/is/are + Subject + verb +ing + object?
Whq. am/isn’t/aren’t + Subject + verb +ing + object?
(I = am) We / You / They / These / Those / Names = are)
(He / She / It / This / That / Any name = is)
Negative = (is + not = isn’t / are + not = aren’t)
Examples:-
- I am learning computer.
- They are playing football.
- He is offering namaz.
- I’m not smoking.
- We aren’t preparing breakfast.
- She isn’t drinking water.
- Are you facing problems?
- Aren’t those girls cleaning the floor?
- What are you doing here?
- Who are you waiting for?
- Why aren’t you feeling well?
- Why aren’t they speaking in English?
Important:- we do not use Verb + ing form with these words…
apologize, insist, believe, promise, recommend, love, hate, trust, advise, refuse, etc.
Examples = I agree. (Not I am agreeing)
