Elocution at Animika’s Academy is an integral part of the English Speaking Course. The exercise has multiple benefits. First and foremost, it is aimed at raising the confidence level of the students being trained there. Many a times, students are capable of public speaking but due to fear and hesitation, they don’t take the initiative and finally the ability remains unused and inactive. At Anamika’s Academy, this need to discover this talent is felt and the students are encouraged to face the audience with confidence. In the past, many students have discovered this talent and went on to become good speakers.
Elocution is a regular event at Anamikas. Trainers play a very important role in encouraging the students to come forward for this fruitful exercise. They are given the topics of general interest and made to speak on the same before the whole class. The first appearance is simply to introduce them to public speaking. For some students, it is the first appearance in their life before the audience. So they are expectedly tense and nervous. Then the trainers tactfully handle this situation and tell the participants that it is ok to make mistakes in rehearsals and not to be overcautious about the same. This convinces the students and infuses much needed confidence. Next time, they face the class, they are definitely much better equipped to handle the situation. This reflects in less number of mistakes and confidence on their face.
Then comes the final day when the speakers have to not only face their class but also the students of the whole academy and the judges. There is no exaggeration to say that the event witnesses the complete transformation in the ability of the students to face and address a gathering of significant number of audience. A competition is held to identify the outstanding speakers. The participants come one by one and express their views and win applause of the audience. At the end of the speeches, the participants are felicitated with prizes to boost their confidence. Finally, Mr Armaan Verma, director of Anamika’s Academy, congratulates the participants for their contribution and the colorful event comes to an end. The major chunk of the success of this event goes to Armaan Sir, who continually motivates the faculties at Anamika’s and the students to actively take part in this periodic exercise. Well done!
