In today’s age, we have numerous ways of communication. Though oral communication is still preferred mode of communication, there are other options as well. For example, if we simply want someone to get a message, there is no need to call for this purpose. We have the options of sending SMS or simply a message through WhatsApp. Written part of communication is dominated by emails. It has threatened the survival of the physical letters. Still, all the forms of communication discussed so far have some weaknesses- they can be manipulated. However, there is one form of communication which is immune to such manipulations and that is body language.
Body language is the best way to judge the people’s real behaviour at any point of time. If someone is happy, it reflects on the face. If he or she is sad, it comes out with the slow body movements. If someone is excited or scared, it reflects in the voice. If someone is nervous, the unnecessary body gestures expose that completely. If there is a mismatch in the body language and say verbal language, the person gets caught. For instance, if someone apologizes and there is no regret on the face, the apology will never look genuine. Therefore, there is a need to polish this important form of communication.
Body language is no longer limited to the informal communication. It is equally important in formal and official communication. Specially, in the interviews, it is seen minutely. So, there is a need to pay attention to this aspect of personality. To improve body language, the best way is to observe the people who are good at it. At the same time, it is better to be self-conscious about your body movement. At a social gathering or an official meeting, one should be extra careful. Another important thing is not to show any pretentious behaviour to impress people. With some practice, body language can be aligned with the other means of communication.
