The income tax department has launched an app known as Clear Tax to help the mobile users file their return without using the browser of the tax department.
The newly launched app has full functionality of the web browser. Even when the internet connection is not available, the information of tax returns can be fed into the app. The details already fed will get updated in the database of the tax department automatically when the connection is available. It will be very helpful for those who are turning to mobile for various things. Filing return will be an additional advantage they can derive from the app world.
There was a need to develop the app, because in the past, more and more tax payers were using the website functionality for filing returns and there is a less traffic available through the mobile interface. The government is aiming to divert the traffic via app in a significant numbers- five lakh by the end of this year. Currently the app is available for only android mobile users, but if the response for the initiative is good, it can also be made available on the other mobile platforms.
