Virender Sehwag has finally said good bye to all forms of cricket after an eventful cricketing career of sixteen years.Though he had not been active in international cricket for last couple of years, the record he set during his prime days has made him a towering sports personality.
1999 was the year when he joined Indian team as an opener batsman in one day international match. Right from the beginning he showed the clear tendency of an aggressive batsman.He along with Sachin made a deadly combination which could tore apart any bowling attack. Having established himself in ODI, he forayed in test cricket. Here too he proved his supremacy. In more than 100 matches, he accumulated more than 8000 runs and scored 23 centuries before he put his bat to rest. His test cricket record is also special because he is the only Indian who has hit triple century twice. With this record he joined the elite club of four batsmen who have two triple centuries to their credit. Other three being Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Chris Gayle. His first triple century is unforgettable because if was hit against Pakistan in Pakistan.
In one day cricket also he has an enviable record. He hit two double centuries along with 13 other centuries. He also hit the fastest century in ODI which was surpassed by First Kohli. He also had the highest total in ODI before Rohit Sharma made 264.

People like Virender Sehwag have left an indelible mark on the sands of International cricket. This also shows that the man from a humble background can rise to a great height
